Yaletown supports Vancouver Fashion Week.
Historically, Yaletown was Vancouver’s center for the fashion industry. During the 1980′s a significant number of creative businesses began to locate in Yaletown; many fashion designers and manufacturers were drawn to Yaletown because of the proximity to the Showmart building (this fashion wholesale building was at 910 Mainland St), as well as the relatively inexpensive commercial space at the time. This concentration of creative fashion and design businesses has shaped the current identity of Yaletown.
