Yaletown Neighbourhood
Tourism Vancouver
Yaletown is a very talented neighbourhood that has gone through many phases since the 1890s. It all started (1885) as a railyard industrial era which lasted for many, many years. By the 1960′s, Yaletown had transformed into a garment district and then briefly flirted with a dot.com phase in the 1990’s.
Today, Yaletown has transformed again…this time into a trendy urban community made up of a dense mixture of residential, commercial, office, restaurants, boutiques, and services, making it one of the most sought after areas to live, work, and play in all of Vancouver. Well actually, one of the most desirable ‘hoods in all of Canada. With over 900 businesses, many focused on the design or creative industries, Yaletown is a trendsetter.
This dynamic neighbourhood is now home to one of Canada’s most stylish and contemporary boutique hotels, Opus Hotel, and some of the most amazing and creative retail shops such as Fine Finds and Basquiat Boutique. Let’s not forget the sparkling array of five star restaurants like Blue Water Café, Glowbal Grill Steaks and Satay, and Cioppino’s. For a complete list of Yaletown businesses and services, see the Directory.
Recently, Global TV’s Mike McCardell highlighted the trendy coffee shops in Yaletown. This segment showcases how the trendy neighbourhood is host to a diverse crowd, as our very own Yaletown Clean Team are interviewed.
