R FAMOUS DRUNKEN’ DONUTS

About Romer’s Burger Bar

Romer’s Burger Bar is the creation of Executive Chef Jim Romer. Born in Marin County, and trained at the CIA (Culinary Institute of America, not the other one), Jim has spent over 20 years preparing some pretty mind-blowing good food for people.

The three “R”s of Jim

Real

As in, eat real food. The kind that comes from farmers. Locally sourced. No ingredients you can’t pronounce.

Respect

Live and work in a sustainable way. Treat customers and co-workers like family and friends (some of them are).

FlavouR

Okay, that one’s a stretch. But Jim is all about flavours. Unexpected, sublime, wonderful flavours. Like the melt-in-your-mouth Kobe beef in the Ultimate Kobe Classic. Holy $#!% is that a good burger. I had one the other day with a Red Truck lager, and I swear I was… Sorry, we digress. Jim’s all about flavour.

R philosophy

Eat good food. Keep it fresh. Keep it simple. Be creative. Let seasons and farmers be our guide. Be good to the planet, and all who are on it. Laugh. Share. Do what you do best: with us, it’s burgers.

About Yaletown Brewing Company

The Yaletown Brewing Company is Vancouver’s original and best Brewpub. Founded in 1994, just as the former warehouse district of Yaletown was just beginning to emerge as a destination for businesses and residents, the YBC was built with the vision of being a true neighbourhood pub – a welcoming gathering place whether you arrived dressed in a suit or flip-flops.

During the intervening years, the neighbourhood has undergone tremendous change, but YBC has remained Yaletown’s premiere destination for superb beers, inspired menus and unpretentious good times.

With a 160-seat Restaurant and a lively pub with TVs, pool tables and a fireplace, the Yaletown Brewing Company has become a one-stop destination for everything from large corporate events to quick after-work beers with the regulars. The huge patios are Yaletown’s best spot to sit, eat and take in the neighbourhood atmosphere throughout the spring and summer.

The hard work of the Brewmaster, Head Chef and staff has resulted in a whole wall full of awards for the Yaletown Brewing Company. It has been voted Best Brewpub in Canada on several occasions and holds a virtual lock on annual Readers’ Choice awards for Best in Vancouver. Despite the success, everyone at YBC still works diligently to challenge and surprise customers with seasonal beers, evolving menus and entertaining event nights. That’s why it’s the true neighbourhood pub in Vancouver’s most vibrant neighbourhood.

About Bistro Sakana

Bistro Sakana, long considered a Yaletown sushi icon, continues to impress diners with a high standard of quality and service that has remained consistent for over 10 years. Creativity is paramount here, and at Bistro Sakana the goal is not only to satisfy, but to inspire as well. Some of the city’s most original Japanese fusion dishes, including the use of brown rice in sushi, were conceived here, and that creative spirit lives on. Bistro Sakana also has a reputation for freshness, and like all good restaurants in Japan, this starts with a daily visit to local markets.

Chefs at Bistro Sakana are very much in touch with their Japanese roots, but also willing to experiment. Here you will find both traditional Japanese cuisine alongside a variety of colourful fusion dishes. Try the Tuna Avocado Crepe or the Teppan Roll, inspired by French and Italian influences and interpreted from a uniquely Japanese perspective. This global spirit is also evident in the original cocktails, extensive selection of wines, and Vancouver’s largest and most exclusive cold sake list.

Bistro Sakana is located in a historic former rail-yard warehouse, with high ceilings, exposed beams, a garden patio situated on an old railcar loading dock, and a rustic/contemporary atmosphere that features modern European jazz and intimate lighting. Come and enjoy what long time patrons often refer to as “the best sushi in Vancouver”. There’s a good chance the Bistro Sakana is just what you’ve been looking for.

About Minami Restaurant

Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Yaletown, Minami Restaurant delivers one of the most unique and innovative dining experiences to Vancouver. Minami follows the pioneering footsteps of sister restaurant, Miku for introducing the Aburi style or flame seared technique to Vancouver’s thriving sushi scene in 2008. Each piece of sushi is flame seared using a blowtorch and bamboo charcoal, giving it a smokey, melt in your mouth aroma. Aburi sushi requires no soy sauce or wasabi, as the chefs create specialty sauces using non-traditional Japanese ingredients to complement the flavour properties of each variety of fish.

From the kitchen, seasonal and regional ingredients, as well as Ocean Wise seafood options are integrated into dishes to reflect the diversity of responsible food choices. Traditionally trained Japanese chefs are inspired by global flavors and cutting edge techniques to create a new style of cuisine. The culinary approach evokes passion and beauty, as each dish is artfully plated on custom-designed Arita Yaki plate ware, hand picked by owner, Seigo Nakamura from the artisan town of Arita, Japan. Japan-Euro influenced desserts created in house by our pastry team creates the perfect ending to the culinary experience.

Minami restaurant offers a dynamic space for dining and entertaining, which includes two private dining rooms, a seated lounge, hidden sun-filled patio and a custom-built sushi bar. The clean and modern space is weaved together with touches of Japanese aesthetic, creating a culturally contemporary room for dining. Hailing from Kyoto, Japan, internationally renowned muralist, Hideki Kimura’s stunning and whimsical work can be seen on many feature walls, including both the Blue Ocean and Blue Wave private dining rooms.

The Minami bar features an extensive sake list created by a foremost sake expert in Vancouver, wine menu and an original cocktail program designed by the highly-acclaimed 2010 Vancouver Magazine’s ‘Bartender of the Year,’ Shaun Layton.
