May 1 – October 2, 2014
Every Thursday from 2PM – 6PM
Mainland St. between Davie and Helmcken St.
The Yaletown BIA has partnered with Vancouver Farmers Markets and VIVA Vancouver to present a weekly farmers market this Spring and Summer on Mainland St. Attracting locals and visitors alike, the area will bustle with shoppers, food producers and growers.
Market booths will feature fresh produce direct from the growers, artisan foods and baking, as well as a limited selection of non-food merchandise. The market will be offered for the height of the summer and fall harvest season. Fresh fruits, crunchy vegetables and luscious herbs will inspire tasty menus and summer dining.
Whether you are a local merchant, area employee, Yaletown resident or a visitor, the Yaletown Farmers Market will provide you with snacks, groceries and goodies, an opportunity to showcase your business and a place to meet up with friends to enjoy Mainland Street in a fresh way.
The Farmers Market will be located on the 1100 block of Mainland St. and Bill Curtis Square (at the Canada Line Station).
Food Scraps Drop Spot
Drop off small amounts of food scraps weekly at the Yaletown Farmers Market instead of throwing organic waste in the garbage for a $2 donation and help keep organics out of the landfill and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Food Scraps Drop Spot provides one model for local-scale food scraps collection as the City seeks solutions for a Metro Vancouver ban on all organic material in the landfill by 2015. Ask for more information at the Drop Spot tent.
What can you bring to the drop spot?
✔ fruits & vegetables
✔ meat, bones & dairy
✔ breads & pastries
✔ cooked food scraps
✔ soiled paper towels
✔ coffee grounds & filters
✔ tea bags
Please do not include plastic bags, plastics or styrofoam, oil or grease, and coffee cups when disposing food scraps.
