Why did you start your business in Yaletown?

We wanted to expand our business and needed a bigger space. In 2013, we were lucky to find this spot in Yaletown and was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful sense of neighbourhood. Being in foodie heaven was exciting and we felt that this was the right place for us to grow and complement the neighbourhood with our niche offering.

What is your favourite part of your job?

Definitely the people I meet! All our customers and neighbouring businesses and residents who come to my store are so happy! It’s amazing. I think there is nothing better than chocolate to keep people happy.

Complete the following sentence:

“What really makes us unique is…”

For us chocolate is a food, not a candy. We make a line of fun-flavoured products, import chocolate from amazing makers, & educate any who will listen.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about opening their own business?

Life balance and persistence.

You need persistence because there will be a lot of ups and downs when starting your own business. It’s easy to get caught up, so you need to find balance between your work and personal life. That way you will be more creative and effective.
