Why did you start your business in Yaletown?
I recently relocated here from California. My coaching business is quite global. I work with people from all around the world by telephone or video conference, and I could have moved to anywhere in the world. I chose to return to Vancouver and Yaletown because of the very exciting entrepreneurial culture, and that is my sweet spot as a coach.
Yaletown for me is the model and epicenter of the work/life lifestyle that I value. When I visioned my move to Vancouver what occurred to me was not only that I wanted to be in Yaletown but that I had to be on Mainland St. Here, stepping out the door of my office into such a vibrant atmosphere of restaurants, services, business opportunities without needing to jump into my car is compelling for me. I have also come to appreciate the SkyTrain system that connects Yaletown to the larger region. Yaletown truly is the best of all worlds.
What is your favourite part of your job?
As a coach, I am privileged to be trusted as a guide in the journeys of so many people that are up to amazing things and that are having powerful impacts on the world we all live in. I get to ask the tough questions, to celebrate as my clients achieve their goals, to support them as they navigate both personal and professional challenges and opportunities. What is there not to love about that?
Complete the following sentence:
“What really makes us unique is…”
We hold our clients up to the highest of their dreams, vision, and possibilities while resourcing them with leadership coaching, life coaching, visioning, and accountability. We truly get to work with All, and the impact of what we do reshapes not only our client’s present experience but also the future that they create. The leverage of that impact is profound.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about opening their own business?
Go for it! If it seems daunting then all the better because a great adventure is one that appears bigger than you at first and then you grow into it. The challenges will develop you into the fullest expression of who you are meant to be should you accept the call. That means first to be willing to say yes to wringing the juice out of this precious life and savoring every sip.
Every road ahead is potentially filled with obstacles and opportunities so you might as well take the path of your highest calling. There is only so much that you can prepare for. You will learn, grow, develop your ideas and your self through the action of following through and saying yes to that voice that asks you to let go of the illusion of safety.
When the time of your elderhood arrives what would you want to say to your family – that you took the chance and went for it or that you always wished you had but somehow never did?
