In 4 weeks, select Yaletown establishments open their doors in support of Music Heals’ annual initiative, A Night Out For Music Heals. On the first Saturday in March, businesses from the nightlife and hospitality industries come together to raise funds and awareness for local music therapy initiatives.
Yaletown businesses Bar None, Hello Goodbye, and Tavern (The New Oxford), managed by Donnelly Group and Safe & Sound, have been longstanding supporters of the night, since its inception over five years ago.
“We choose to support #NightOut because in the same way that we use music to positively influence people, Music Heals supports those who provide music therapy as a way of healing,” comments a representative from Donnelly Group.
As a Yaletown business we are fortunate to be surrounded by many other great businesses, especially a number of nightlife and bar venues. We are a tight-knit community and thus when one business is involved with a special event such as #NightOut, word travels fast to other businesses who in turn can get involved with an organization like Music Heals. This is one of the many wonderful characteristics of working in an area that boasts such a dense environment of top-quality nightlife and bar venues.”
One of the points most reiterated by Music Heals and #NightOut4MH is the local focus: all money stays where it is raised.
“This is a reason to support local organizations, because those who are helped are members of your community. You have the chance to see the impact of your support and how it affects those around you; something that is not usually possible with larger global organizations. Supporting locally gives us the opportunity to actually give rise to local change.”
